Eligibility Rules

All candidates, regardless of their category (OC, BC, SC, ST), can compete for OC seats based on merit.

Example: A BC_B candidate can be allotted a seat in OC_GEN_UR category if they meet the cutoff rank.

Seats like CAP, NCC, SG, PHH, PHO, PHV are only available to students who qualify under the respective special quota.

Example: A student must be registered under the CAP quota to be eligible for BC_A_CAP_GEN_OU.

Seats with GIRLS in the category name are only available to female candidates.

Example: OC_GIRLS_OU, BC_B_GIRLS_UR — only female students can apply.

Region-specific seats have different eligibility rules based on the student's region:

  • OU Region Students: Eligible for both OU and UR seats
  • AU/SVU Region Students: Only eligible for UR seats
Example: If a BC_B candidate is from AU region, they can only apply for BC_B_GEN_UR seats, while an OU region candidate can apply for both BC_B_GEN_OU and BC_B_GEN_UR seats.

Candidates are primarily eligible for seats matching their category — BC_A, SC, ST, etc. However, high-merit candidates can also be selected under OC seats.

Example: A BC_B candidate may be eligible for both BC_B_GEN_OU and OC_GEN_UR if they meet merit criteria.

Seat eligibility is based on a combination of four student attributes — Category, Gender, Region, and Special Quota.

Example Candidate:

  • Category: BC_B
  • Gender: Male
  • Region: OU
  • Quota: CAP

Eligible Seats:

  • BC_B_GEN_OU, BC_B_GEN_UR
  • BC_B_CAP_GEN_OU, BC_B_CAP_GEN_UR
  • OC_GEN_OU, OC_GEN_UR
  • OC_CAP_GEN_OU, OC_CAP_GEN_UR

Candidates from General Category (OC) whose family income is below a defined threshold may qualify for the EWS quota.

EWS students are eligible only for seats labeled EWS_GEN_OU, EWS_GEN_UR, EWS_GIRLS_OU, etc.

Example: A Male EWS student from OU can apply to EWS_GEN_OU, EWS_GEN_UR, and also general OC seats like OC_GEN_OU.
